Today, socio-economic problems exist in nearly all regions of Azerbaijan, and they are being solvedwisely and steadily, step by step. The Oghuz rayon is not immune to such problems, and has been working on solving them for several years. Large infrastructure projects have been carried out in every village of the rayon, and AzRIP’s unique contributions to theirsuccesses in reconstruction and renovation are visible everywhere. Most recently, long-awaited wishes of two Oghuz villages finally came true as a result of the successful partnership of AzRIPandthe Oghuz Rayon ExCom. Those villages are Tarkesh and Sinjan, and they are located 15 km from the Oghuz rayon center.According to Mr. SarkhanZahidov, Chief of Municipality for the villages of Tarkesh and Sinjan, the potable water pipeline serving both villages had not been renovated foryears and wasin alarming condition. Some sections of the villages had only low pressure water flow, while other sections had no water at all. Water was also wasted owing to the small water reservoir serving the communities. Existing water springs weredrying up, and the water shortagecausedthe residents serious concern. To solve their water problems, neighboring Tarkesh and Sinjan communities combined efforts, and withAzRIP's financial and technical support, theyplanned and completed a project to repair the water pipeline. In the end, six water springs were created, 5,600 meters of water lines were constructed using polyethylene and metal pipes, and a water tank with the capacity of 16 tons was installed. Mr. AzerMajidov, the village ExCom representative, said, “As a result of repairing the main water system today, we have witnessed how a potable water problem can find its solution in our two communities together, now and for all time. Along with providing community residents with environmentally clean water, the improvement of the potable water supply also resulted in saving 22% of family budgets by avoiding additional costs. Providing the school and hospital building with potable water has also givenour residents high spirits. It is indeed a great achievement that more than 6,000 residents of our two communities are now receiving potable water."Recently, pipeline grand opening ceremonies were held by both communities. While delivering her speech of congratulations, Ms. GulbanizGanbarovatold the people, “We eagerly waited for the day when the potable water needs of the Tarkesh and Sinjan communities would be satisfied. For many years these people suffered from lack of the potable water”. She also said that AzRIP currently operates in 56 rayons of Azerbaijan and noted with pride that this is the fourth water project completed in Oghuz. Ms. Ganbarova expressed her gratitude to Mr. EyvazGurbanov, Head of the Oghuz Rayon ExCom, for his continued support ofAzRIP. She also noted that AzRIPhad carried out a number of infrastructure projects in this rayon, and during those projects they had always felt the personal care and support of the ExCom office. She appreciated the dedication and cooperation shown by both communities before and during the implementation of the water project. She also pointed out that when communities build successful relationships with government agencies, AzRIP easily expands its activities in those areas. Tarkesh and Sincan are communities that build those valuable relationships with the local government.”While delivering his congratulatory speech at the opening ceremony, Mr. EyvazGurbanov once again reminded the people that during the last two years AzRIPhad helped Oghuz to restore rural roads, install water pipelines, construct medical facilities, and more. “I am immensely proud to say that in the last two years AzRIP has completed14projects in Oguz, which is more than any other region. In this regard, I express my special thanks to the AzRIP management team. Now the crystal clear water of the lofty Caucasus Mountains flows intothe Tarkesh and Sinjan villages, giving health toeveryone”.
